Field Mechanic

Ember Resources is seeking a full-time Mechanic for our Southern and South-Central Alberta operations. Ideal candidates would live in Calgary, Strathmore, Drumheller, Airdrie, Olds, Trochu, Elnora or Innisfail.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily mechanical maintenance and the troubleshooting and repair of Ember’s rotating equipment in South Central Alberta.

Preference will be given to applicants who currently reside in the Southern/Central Alberta area.

The successful applicant must meet the following:

  • Preference will be given to applicants with strong computer capabilities. Ember utilizes the following software programs (Marsworx, EmberGO, Fluidlife, Complyworks, OpenInvoice, and Detechtion)
  • Ideal Candidates must have a Journeyman Millwright, Natural Gas Compression or Heavy-Duty Mechanic ticket with 10+ years of mechanical experience in the natural gas industry.
  • Strong experience in overhaul, repairs and troubleshooting skills on area-related equipment will be considered an asset. Equipment may include Cat 3300, 3400, and 3500 series engines. Waukesha Lean and rich burn VGF and VHP engines including Series 5. Many sizes, makes and models of both reciprocating and screw compressors.
  • Control system experience and troubleshooting on area related equipment such as REMVue and Allen Bradly process controls as well as engine control systems such as CEC, ESM1, ESM2, EIS, ADEM11, ADEM111, Altronic and Murphy AFR and ignition management will also be considered an asset.
  • Individuals must be highly self-motivated and have a strong ability to self-manage the daily responsibilities of the role.
  • Strong communication, leadership qualities and good interpersonal skills are a requirement for candidates.
  • Must be willing to be flexible with holiday coverage, vacation, and on-call with coworkers.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Support the condition-based maintenance system and programs (MarsWorx, Vibration Analysis program, SCADA, Detechtion, FluidLife)
  • Provide strong technical support and troubleshooting for the field area
  • Report to the area Lead Mechanic and follow the monthly
  • Work on a variety of equipment: engines, gas compressors, air compressors, pumps,
  • Support and document work in Ember’s maintenance management system (Marsworx)
  • Flexibility to travel to all operational areas within
  • Work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Have regular communications with other area Mechanics, E/I Trades and Area Operators.
  • Successful applicants will be required to attend the monthly Maintenance team safety meeting. The candidate will be expected to report all hazard ID’s, near misses and incidents.
