Ember’s Board is responsible for the stewardship of the corporation and for overseeing the conduct of the business of Ember and its management, who are responsible for the day-to-day conduct of our business. Ember’s Board ensures that our company has sound internal control and systems for risk management that are appropriate to the extent and nature of our corporate activities.
Douglas A. DafoeCA, C.DIR.
President and Chief Executive Officer, Ember Resources Inc.
Mr. Dafoe has more than 30 years of industry experience in financial and operating positions of increasing responsibility. Prior to joining Ember, Mr. Dafoe was President and Chief Executive Officer of Thunder Energy Inc., a company he co-founded in 1996 and the predecessor company to Ember Resources. Mr. Dafoe has a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of North Dakota, is a Chartered Accountant and a Certified Director.
Mr. Dafoe has served on the Board of Governors of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) and several TSX-listed companies. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board for Xtreme Drilling and Coil Services Corp.
Mr. Reid is Managing Partner of Brookfield Asset Management's Energy Group. He has held several senior management positions at Brookfield and is responsible for Brookfield's energy initiatives. He currently serves as Chairman of CWC Well Service Corp. and has been its Director since 2007. Mr. Reid established Brookfield's Calgary office in 2003 after spending several years as a Chief Financial Officer for two oil and gas exploration and production companies in Western Canada, Bushmills Energy and the Causeway Energy Group of Companies. He obtained his Chartered Accountant designation at Price WaterhouseCoopers in Toronto and holds a Bachelor of Arts (Commerce) from the University of Toronto.
Mr. Schultz is a Vice President in Brookfield Asset Management's Energy Group. Prior to joining Brookfield in 2012, he was Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of several oil and gas production companies in Western Canada over a period of approximately eight years. Mr. Schultz has also worked at Collins Barrow Chartered Accountants where he provided various audit and advisory services for public and private corporations. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta and is a Chartered Accountant.
Mr. Rawji is an energy consultant with over 20 years of experience in executing and managing complex financial instruments in natural gas, crude oil, refined products and power commodities across North America. He set up BP Canada’s natural gas trading operation in the early 2000s, and previously led major asset management and trading and marketing organizations for TransCanada. Mr. Rawji has provided trading and risk management expertise to large energy companies in Calgary and Houston, and is currently on the Board of Directors of Warwick Gas Storage Inc., which is owned by Brookfield Asset Management and Perpetual Energy.
Ms. Close has more than 35 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas sector, having served as President of the Production Services division for Tervita Corporation, Executive Vice President of DO2 Technologies, and in a number of roles with Haliburton Corporation’s software division, Landmark Graphics. She currently serves as an appointee to the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Advisory Council. Ms. Close holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Calgary and acts as Chair of Ember’s HSE Committee.
Glenn HamiltonCPA, CA
Mr. Hamilton has more than 26 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas sector. He is the former Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Bonavista Energy Corporation, and has held various positions at Penn West Petroleum Ltd. and NuVista Energy Ltd. Mr. Hamilton holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Carleton University and is a Chartered Accountant. He is the Chair of Ember’s Audit Committee.
Mr. Merritt has over 35 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He is the founder of Masters Energy Inc., former President & CEO of Sunfire Energy, and former Vice President and General Manager of the oil and gas division of Pembina Corporation. Mr. Merritt received a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School. He is the Chair of Ember’s Reserves Committee.
