The Alberta Geological Survey estimates there may be up to 179 tcf of natural gas in Alberta’s Horseshoe Canyon coals.

LOW-COST, UNCONVENTIONAL, LONG-LIFE NATURAL GAS

Coalbed methane, or CBM, is low-cost, long-life natural gas resource contained in coal. The CBM that Ember produces from its wells is considered the cleanest burning fossil fuel available today, and is the natural gas that heats our homes and businesses.

Typical CBM wells initially produce approximately 90 mcf/d with a low decline rate and a life-span of 25 – 30 years. The drilling and completion risk is low and, with current drilling and completion practices, these coals generate predictable and long-term production.
