Ember is a leading producer of coalbed methane, which is simply the production of natural gas (or methane) found in coal. Ember's experience with coalbed methane dates back to some of the first wells drilled in Canada to produce this unconventional source of energy. That depth of experience includes working with local landowners and communities to ensure our operations are safe and environmentally sound. We understand the importance of working closely with our stakeholders and developing meaningful relationships; both are important in ensuring the sustainability of our business and the highest standards of operational and environmental performance.
Ember is ranked among Canada's top five producers of coalbed methane from the Horseshoe Canyon coal trend, a coal seam extending through central Alberta. In 2008 Ember acquired Cordero Energy Inc. which was important to building a long-term operational base. Ember's production is now in the range of 26 MMcf/d from more than 400 shallow wells. Our land holdings exceed 475,000 net acres and are located near six communities in central and northern Alberta.
As the company has grown, we have expanded our community relations program. The latest addition is a stakeholder tracking system (STS) to help us meet our goal of providing stakeholders with accurate and timely information - we strive to ensure that all commitments made are commitments kept.
